Join us for Home Educators' Day as we invite the homeschool community to come and engage with this important part of history through a variety of activities at Monticello. Students of all ages can explore a variety of topics related to the landscape and the lives of those who resided at the Monticello plantation through a number of engaging indoor and outdoor hands-on activity stations.
Visitors will learn about the impact of Thomas Jefferson as an influential figure in early American history, about Monticello as an iconic architectural feat, and about the lives and skills of the enslaved community who worked to shape this landscape in many critical ways.
Explore the first floor of the main house and our exhibits in the visitor center, do special activities on the West Lawn and Mulberry Row, hike miles of outdoor trails, learn about ongoing research and new discoveries from Monticello’s archaeologists, and more.

Pamplin Historical Park is offering its annual Fall Homeschool Day on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 10:00am to 2:00 pm. Students will be led by an experienced park educator through three of our programs: “Why They Fought,” an interactive program which gives students a better understanding about why the nation divided and came to war; “Civil War Battles,” which examines the changes in strategy and tactics of battles as the conflict wore on, with an examination of the April 2, 1865 Petersburg Breakthrough Battle that occurred on our site; and a visit through the National Museum of the Civil War Soldier.
This is a rain or shine event. We suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes, bringing a “brown bag” lunch, and a water bottle. We request that family groups pre-register and pre-pay by calling 804-861-2408.

The Lee-Fendall House Museum welcomes homeschoolers for Homeschool Day Oct 1st, 2021 - Homeschool Day – Archives, 10:00 AM-3:00 PM: The Lee-Fendall House Museum welcomes homeschoolers for Homeschool Day on Friday, October 1! Our theme this fall, in honor of American Archives Month, will focus on archives and how we learn about history through documents.
Tours of the house will be offered every hour starting at 10:00 AM with the last tour starting at 2:00 PM, with a limited number of people per session. Advance registration for a specific tour time is required. Face masks are recommended. Adults (18+) are $3, students (3-17) are $5, and children under 3 are free. Join us for our Annual Home Educators’ Living History Days for children. The program is geared for children ages 8 to 10 years old, although children younger and older benefit and can participate in the hands-on experience of 18th-century life. Programs can rotate among spinning and weaving, blacksmithing, pottery, a walking tour, Colonial medicine, basket making, tin punching, and rope making.
There will two fall days of Living History offered for homeschool students: Thursday, October 7, 2021, and Friday, October 8, 2021- 8:30am until 2:00pm. Each day will have the same schedule.
Advance Registration Required for this Event. Adults/Chaperones are $6/each, Children 4 and up are $5/each, and Children 3 and under are free, but tickets must still be reserved for them.
Tickets are non-refundable. This is a rain or shine event. After purchasing tickets, a confirmation email will be sent to you.
